JUDGE GUY C. SHEARER LECTURES were established by his family to bring to Bay View a lecturer who will speak to “the impact of Christianity upon the American culture.” The Rev. Dr. Bruce Robbins presents the lectures at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, July 7-10, in Voorhies Hall.
RUSSELL KING LECTURES honor the former Bay View President and leader in Michigan Methodism; and HARRY C. VOLLMAR LECTUREs honor the late Harry C. Vollmar of St. Louis, Missouri, a United Methodist layman. The lectures will be given by the Rev. Dale Schlafer at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, July 14-17, in Voorhies Hall.
NELLIE GORDON BLASIUS LECTURES, established by Leslie Blasius and Adelyn Mueller in memory of his wife and her sister; and WILLIAM FRED ALLEN LECTURES given by Mrs. Fred Allen in memory of her husband, a layman active in Michigan Methodism and the Church at large. The lectures will be given by the Rev. Dr. John H. Thomas at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, July 21-24, in Voorhies Hall.
GEORGE ARTHUR BUTTRICK LECTURES were established by David Dykhouse in memory of his father and in appreciation of the preaching of Dr. George Arthur Buttrick. The lectures will be presented by Dr. Rebecca Scott at 10 a.m. Monday-Friday, July 28-Aug. 1, in Voorhies Hall.
LOUISE GARMAN ENDOWED LECTURES were established by Dick Garman as a memorial to his wife of more than 60 years. The lectures will be delivered by the Rev. Susan Henry-Crowe at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, Aug. 4-7, in Voorhies Hall.
WILLIAM J. HOWELL FAMILY SPONSORED LECTURESHIP for spiritual, educational and cultural enrichment of the Bay View membership and for people in the surrounding area, will be given by the Rev. Dr. Linda Mercadante at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, Aug. 11-14, in Voorhies Hall.
WILLIAM and RUTH TOMKINSON LECTURES are endowed by William and Ruth. The Rev. R. Robert Kimes will deliver the lectures at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, Aug. 18-21, in Crouse Memorial Chapel.
WESLEY HAGER LECTURES were established in 1996 by Marian P. Bryan in memory of Dr. Wesley Hager; her husband, Dr. William T.K. Bryan; and her brother, Charles F. Pfingsten, both close friends of Dr. Hager. The Rev. Larry Grooters will present the lectures at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, Aug. 25-28, in Crouse Memorial Chapel.
Continuing Education Credit
Continuing Education Credit (CEU) is granted to those who attend and participate in any of these lectures. A CEU of 0.5 will be given for full-time attendance in any one of the lectureships. Continuing education participants must pick up a Continuing Education Unit letter from the Business Office, which they will ask the lecturer to fill out after completion of the lectures. This letter serves as the official Bay View Continuing Education Unit Certificate.
